Rocks and stones

Rocks, stones and pebbles make wonderful loose parts. Early childhood is a time for climbing over large rocks and stuffing small ones into pockets. Some children collect interesting rocks, including precious stones and crystals. Their colours and shapes are mesmerising and magical.

The educational benefits of rocks and stones include sensory awareness.

EYLF learning outcomes

Rocks and stones aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework as it is a material (4.4).

The Interest Forest

The Interest Forest was created by a small team of Australian early childhood teachers. We believe in less paperwork and more play.

We have collected hundreds of children's interests, linked to the EYLF, to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of your program. We hope you enjoy exploring our Forest of interest topics.
